Get Your Free Yearly Credit Report Tips – Canadian Tips
Did you know that you’re actually entitled to one (1) free credit report from each of our credit bureaus every single year? Well, you actually are and that’s something that a lot of people don’t realize. Your credit score is going to affect absolutely everything around you. Whether you want to get a credit card, a loan, a mortgage, or even a car insurance, lending companies are going to check your credit report to find out more about you. If they feel like you’re worth the risk (meaning you have a decent score), they’re going to give you the money with a lower interest rate. If they don’t, you won’t get the financing that you need and when you do, you’re going to pay more for it.
There are three different credit bureaus, namely- Transunion, Experian, and Equifax. They are required to keep a full and accurate account of your credit types and how each one is doing. Though the three are slightly different from each other, lending companies don’t normally check your credit score in all of them. For example, your car loan might check your Experian report while your mortgage might check TransUnion. Your job them is to make sure that all the reports are accurate which can be difficult because they don’t always report the same things.
Transunion Credit Reports
Transunion is the most lenient of the three credit bureaus. You will only be asked to fill-out a form so it can send your report right away. However, do anticipate that you will be asked to provide extremely detailed information (i.e. driver’s license, social security number, and other specific accounts on your report) to make sure that everything checks out before anything that could compromise your identity is released. Experian Credit Reports
Ideally, your Experian Credit Report should be identical to your Transunion and your Equifax Reports. It is common for them to differ but make sure to carefully go through each one of them and watch out for errors. Just like with the other credit bureaus, Experian will require you prove you identity by answering a whole bunch of questions. Click Here to get a copy of your Experian Report.
Equifax Credit Reports
This report is usually the last one that credit companies check. Equifax requires you to answer a whole bunch of questions about you and your accounts before it provides the information that you are requesting. Make sure that you know all of your personal information and have the necessary paperwork on hand so you will know everything there is to know. If you don’t answer all of the questions correctly, you’re not going to get access to your own report. Period. Click Here for your Equifax Credit Report.
Other Reporting Departments
There are several companies that will send you copies of your credit report if you want to get additional help. Some offer them for free while other require minimal payment. They will send you additional copies of your report over the year so that you can get a continuous idea of what’s going on. The thing to remember is that these continuous copies are not guaranteed to be as accurate as the ones released by the credit bureaus. Regardless, you can still use them to keep track of your score and accounts and give you a better heads up on what loan companies are going to find when they run your report.
When to Get Them
Make sure to space out your credit report requests from each of the credit bureaus. Get copies every four months so you can review them and determine what helping and what’s hurting your credit score. Watch out for wrong entries and report them right away before they cause you problems.
Remember that maintaining a good credit is important to help you acquire the money that you need to buy a car. However, having a poor one doesn’t mean that you can no longer do. Nowadays, there are already companies that specialize in bad credit and no credit auto loan financing. New Car Canada, for instance, doesn’t look at your credit score at all!
